About the brand

Monestier Down for the Metropolis

Founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont near Grenoble by René Ramillon and André Vincent, Moncler began with quilted sleeping bags before its down jackets moved into professional mountaineering. Lionel Terray’s recognition led to Moncler pour Lionel Terray, and the outerwear accompanied the 1954 K2 ascent and 1955 Makalu expedition.
