About the brand

Monestier Down for the Metropolis

Founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont near Grenoble by René Ramillon and André Vincent, Moncler began with quilted sleeping bags before its down jackets moved into professional mountaineering. Lionel Terray’s recognition led to Moncler pour Lionel Terray, and the outerwear accompanied the 1954 K2 ascent and 1955 Makalu expedition. Under Remo Ruffini, the house translates mountain heritage into metropolitan form, with boudin quilting on nylon laqué defining the down jacket and the felt logo patch carrying the cockerel.
