Milan-based UMITBENAN is rooted in Umit Benan’s journey from 1980s Istanbul into contemporary Italian dressmaking, following work in New York and Milan and his 2006 settlement in Italy. His early wish to be a filmmaker informs a house that treats clothing as character-building, shaped by sartorial precision, straightforward forms, spontaneity, and naturalness. Tailoring is softened through relaxed silhouettes, fluid trousers, Neapolitan shoulders, and breathable silk or linen blends. Bowling collars, concealed plackets, wide peak lapels, and Mother of Pearl buttons keep the wardrobe construction-led rather than logo-defined.
