MM6 Maison Margiela launched in 1997 within the Paris house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela, extending the Maison’s nonconforming and conceptual approach to identity and anonymity. It approaches the contemporary wardrobe as familiar archetypes made slightly unstable, with wit and irreverence expressed through elongated proportions and construction left visible. The MM6 white stitch line and numeric artwork give the line its graphic register, while the Japanese bag translates origami-derived folding into a triangular silhouette.
